Tina and Vladimir were the stars in the squad
The Friday afternoon squad was won by Tina Hulsch, but at least as much attention got 10-year-old Vladimir Khebenev, although he finished last in the squad.
Hulsch’s secret was constancy. She did not have a very big game, but she also did not fail in any. With 1366 she will make it to the final.
“This was my second outing, I do not know if I bowl more. I think that score will be enough”, Hulsch said. “I found the lanes rather difficult. Differences between the lanes, especially in the different parts of the house, were big”, Tina told. “I started around the second arrow and moved about five boards deeper towards the end. I used two balls”, Hulsch explained her play.
“In these conditions the 8-pin lady handicap is just right. Men have more revolutions in their balls and that gives them more area, than ladies have”, Tina pondered.
This squad was ruled by foreign players, the best Finn was Krista Pöllänen on 12th position. On the other hand there were more foreign players on this squad than any other so far.
On the lanes was also 10-year-old Vladimir Khebenev from Moscow. His delivery is technically very good looking, but the boy is still so small that his games were not very high. Vladimir’s final score was 884.
