Palermaa took the lead
Osku Palermaa felt best at home in the second block of the where the line for the right-handers climbed very high. Palermaa passed the previous leader Dominic Barrett and took the top position. The second block was bowled on the same lanes as the first and without lane maintenance. This soon caused the playing line for the right-handers to go far to the left.
In the last games some men played through the seventh arrow, which is same as arrow one for the lefties. This was no problem for Osku Palermaa and he caught the first block leader Dominic Barrett in the third game and then kept his pole position fairly easily.
Barrett on the other hand was deep in troubles in the last games and he dropped to sixth place. All bowlers did not bowl the sixth arrow, though. Dennis Eklund made the cut by bowling first arrow. The scoring in the second block was quite even in the top.
Palermaa was the best with 1168 and four next ones were within 33 pins behind him. Palermaa’s ten game score was 2292. Jari Ratia climbed to second position 47 pins behind the leader with 2245. Pasi Uotila’s score was 2236, which gave him the third position. The rest who made the cut were Petteri Salonen 2184, Dennis Eklund 2176, Dominic Barrett 2175, Or Aviram 2172 and the only lady Nicole Sanders 2135.
Tero Suokas missed the cut with one frustrating pin after finishing with 178 game. Osku Palermaa did not shout for joy after the block.
- Of course I feel good at the moment. Playing the sixth arrow benefited me, he said.
- Starting from the fifth game bowling was not difficult, I hit well and the pins went down rather well, Osku explained.
