Samuli Tiainen, 16, was the best bowler in third squad of Brunswick Ballmaster Open qualification. His six games score was 1311. That was enough to beat his father Olli Tiainen by four points. Samuli came to Tali with Olli, just looking at, but decided to take part to tournament when he walked in.

Samuli was ready to play, because they were on they way home form bowling trip to Sweden.

- We arrived to Tali direct from the harbour and I had my bowling bags with me. So I thought that I also can play while I am here. The trip to Sweden was not so successful, but now I managed to have good ball reaction and did not even have to move so much, Samuli Tiainen told.

Samuli’s father Olli played lost to his son only four points. Olli’s team mate Juho Mäkelä ended to the same score as Samuli Tiainen. To beat father on the bowling lanes is not important to Samuli Tiainen.

- No, it’s not, I don’t even think about it, Samuli said. Olli Tiainen is the coach of the Finnish Ladie’s national team. He is also coaching Samuli. According Samuli, the coaching relation ship is working well.

- It’s working well with us. I think that father is good coach, Samuli admit.

On the result list Samuli Tiainen is ninth after three qualification squads. But the show is just in the beginning and all the international top bowlers and many from Finland, are coming to the lanes later this week. So the score 1311 is probably not going to bring Samuli Tiainen to the finals.

- I don’t believe that it’s going to be enough. And I am not even sure, if I will go to play an re-entry. Let’s see. Jussi Lindgren is still the leader with score 1375. Jarno Blomberg, 1361, and Panu Nurmilo, 1353, are following him on the result list.
