In the matches the top eight qualifiers suffered seven defeats in eight matches. Only Kimmo Lehtonen won his match.

The matches were quite even, none ended with straight games 3-0. Four went to five games. Lehtonen defeated Or Aviram from Israel 3-1 quite easily.

The only lady, Nicole Sanders beat top seed Tobias Karlsson 3-1.
3-1 were also the figures between Dominic Barrett and Jason Belmonte. In the final frame of game four Barrett left a 6-7-10 split, but Belmonte also made a split, 4-6 and lost the game 157-167.

Dennis Eklund from Sweden defeated Jussi Turtiainen 3-2. He won the last game by one pin 204-203. Petteri Salonen defeated Kari Hurri 3-2. The last game went to Salonen, when Hurri left a 7-10 in the last frame after a good hit.

Pasi Uotila won his match against Robert Andersson 3-2. In the last game Andersson had a bad shot in the ninth frame to give the match to Uotila 221-196. Jari Ratia took the fifth game from Jouni Helminen overwhelmingly 255-195 to win 3-2.

Home crowd favorite Osku Palermaa crushed Mads Sandbäkken from Norway 3-1. Osku shot two 266 games to close the match.
