Qualification cut climbs

12.01.2010

Scoring level stays high and the qualification cut keeps on climbing squad after another. In the 13th squad Mathias Årup from Sweden made the best score 1436 and behind him at least five bowlers cleared their way to the finals. The qualification cut is rising at such speed that even last year’s winner Pasi Uotila has fallen out.

Årup took the lead right in the first game with 279. The second game was much lower, but the third gave 280 and even though his speed slowed down, a clear final score was born. Nobody else was close to the Swede, but all together six fairly sure final scores turned out. You better mention fairly sure, because the cut keeps on rising and now it starts to look that it will rise close to 1350. For example Pasi Uotila’s 1343 was considered to be enough, but now he ia already out.

Årup has made several tries, but the fourth time was a charm. “Until yesterday I had no clue how to play here. I drilled a new ball and got the reaction I wanted”, Mathias said. “even after the 279 start I was not sure how the reaction would change, but it stayed good and I am confident about tomorrow”.
